Two ways to buy your turf

Not everyone wants the same thing, so we do it both ways.

Supply Only

You have the ground ready and the time to lay it. We cut, load, and deliver your order, with free advice on request.

Supply and Lay

We handle the lot. Ground prep, levelling, laying, and aftercare instructions. You come home to a finished lawn.

Our turf, grown on the Central Coast

Two varieties of grass, both grown in our own paddocks and both suited to Central Coast conditions. Not sure which one? Tell us how much sun your yard gets and how hard it will be used, and we will tell you straight.

Sir Walter Buffalo

Grass

Soft underfoot, handles shade down to about three hours of sun a day, and repairs itself in high-traffic spots. The default choice for family backyards.

Kikuyu

Grass

Fast growing, hard wearing, and the cheaper option per square metre. Best for big open areas, full sun, dogs, and kids who treat the lawn like a cricket pitch.

Why buy straight from our turf farm?

Peats ridge farm icon.

We grow it.
We do not resell it.

Our paddocks are at 1450 Peats Ridge Rd. When you order, your turf is cut off that farm, not bought in off a truck from Sydney or the Hunter and sold on with a markup.

Cut within 12 hours
of delivery

Turf is a living thing, and it starts to cook the moment it's rolled. We cut and pick your order within 12 hours of delivery, so it lands on your driveway still green, not yellow.

The same family,
over 20 years

Jeff and Patricia Vassallo started this farm more than twenty years ago and they still run it today. When you ring, you're talking to the people who grew the grass.

Advice from growers,
not a call centre

We know how Sir Walter behaves in a shaded Terrigal backyard and how Kikuyu handles a full-sun block. That is not a sales script, it is what we watch happen in the paddocks every season.

What turf costs and how delivery works

Our Central Coast turf is sold by the square metre, and the two things that move the number are the variety and how much you order.
Not sure how many square metres you need? Our measuring guide covers squares, circles, ovals, triangles, and the awkward shapes most backyards actually are.

Recent jobs across the Central Coast

Every one of these came off our paddocks at Peats Ridge. Some customers laid the turf themselves, some had our team do the lot.

About our Central Coast turf farm

Peats Ridge Turf Supplies is a family farm at 1450 Peats Ridge Rd, started and still run by Jeff and Patricia Vassallo. They have been growing turf on the Central Coast for over 20 years and supplying it to homeowners, landscapers, and commercial sites across the region.
The farm grows two varieties, Sir Walter Buffalo and Kikuyu, chosen because they hold up to Central Coast conditions: warm humid summers, mild winters, and everything from full-sun blocks to shaded coastal backyards.
Nobody here is a middleman. The people who answer the phone are the people who grow the grass, cut it, and in a lot of cases load it onto the truck.

Common questions about buying turf on the Central Coast

How much turf do I need?
Measure the lawn area in metres and multiply length by width for square and rectangular areas. For a circle, multiply the diameter by 0.8, then by the diameter again. Leave out paths, garden beds, and pools. Our measuring guide covers ovals, triangles, and irregular shapes, or send us the rough dimensions and we will work it out for you.

Turf is priced per square metre, and the variety is the main driver — Kikuyu is generally cheaper than Sir Walter Buffalo. Order size matters too, since the rate comes down on larger jobs. Supply and lay is quoted per job, because ground prep depends on what shape the site is in. Ring 0409 912 824 with your measurements and we’ll give you a figure on the spot.

Yes. We deliver across the Central Coast from our farm at Peats Ridge, and because we’re cutting to order, your turf goes out within 12 hours of delivery. Delivery cost depends on where you are and how much you’re ordering, so ring 0409 912 824 with your suburb and rough square metres and we’ll confirm it with your quote.

Your order is cut and picked within 12 hours of delivery. Turf is a living product and it deteriorates fast once it is rolled, so cutting to order is the difference between a lawn that takes and one that yellows off in the first fortnight.
Sir Walter Buffalo is the pick for shaded or part-shaded yards, since it copes with as little as three hours of sun a day, and it is softer underfoot for kids. Kikuyu is the pick for full-sun blocks, big open areas, and heavy wear, and it costs less per square metre. If the yard is a mix, tell us the layout and we will tell you which one suits.
No. We do supply only for people who want to lay it themselves, and supply and lay where our team preps the ground, levels it, and lays the turf for you. Both start with a free measure and quote.
Lay it the same day it arrives if you can, and within 24 hours at the outside. Rolled turf heats up on the pallet and starts to break down, so have the ground prepared before the delivery lands.
The lawn looks finished the day it goes down, but hold off on heavy use for about two to three weeks while the roots knit into the soil. We give you watering and care instructions with every job.
